Ann Connaway

Anna Carol Connaway was born August 14, 1938, in Wichita, Kan., daughter of the late Warren William and Mildred Elsie Bennett. Among the achievements Ann was proud of was her association with the Weatherford YMCA as co-founder and the Tops N Texas Award presented by Shirley Temple Black in 1971. She was also band manager of the Sensations. Ann married Harmon Lee Connaway on August 1, 1960.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Rachel Orsak.

Survivors include her husband, Harmon Lee Connaway; sons, John Kent Connaway and James Kelly Davis; grandchildren, Jakob Kale Connaway and Kristan Lucas; great-grandchildren, Cash and Hudson Lucas; niece, Linda Ann Brown, all of Weatherford; nephews, Corky Connaway of Santo and Kevin Jordan of Weatherford; and a host of loving friends.

Ina Dell Leach Lunsford

Ina was born February 13, 1923 in Hamilton County to John and Pearl Leach. She was a longtime resident of Parker County. Ina was an avid gardener, loved sewing and quilting; but the highlight of her life was the family, especially the grandchildren. She also enjoyed painting landscapes.

Ina was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee Roy; and a son, John Wayne.

Survivors include her daughters, Pearline Tillery and husband, Sam, of Weatherford, Judy Hazelton and husband, Bill, of Springtown; son, Howard Lunsford and wife, Jo, of Springtown; daughter-in-law, Kathy Lunsford of Arkansas; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and numerous friends and acquaintances.

Richard Danielsen

Richard was born May 23, 1935 to Nils and Vera Danielsen in North Bergen, N.J. He was a longtime resident of Azle. Richard honorably served his country in the United States Air Force Reserves. He was very active in the Azle Senior Center and his church. Richard enjoyed helping others and loved to share his humor with everyone.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Sandra Danielsen of Azle; son, Richard Danielsen and wife, Nanci of Azle; daughters, Diana Scism and husband, Tony of Houston and Linda Vitela of Fort Worth; sister, Eleanor Edwardsen; ten grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous friends and acquaintances.

Jimmy Byrd Sherwood

Jimmy was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Springtown. He worked for 32 years for Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth before beginning his retirement in August of this year.

Survivors include his wife, Susan; daughter, Lindsay Sherwood and fiance, Cody Sheets; son, Shane and wife, Alex; stepchildren, Stacy Evans and husband, Harrell, Sandy Bollom and fiance, John Balison, and Justin Bollom and wife, Kayla; parents, Howard and Dorothy Sherwood; brother, Glen Sherwood; sister, Carrie Green and husband, Charlie; 12 grandchildren; and many nephews, cousins and friends.

Robert Ray (Bob) Daugherty

Robert Ray (Bob) Daugherty

Bob was born in Abernathy on May 17, 1927 to Jessie Martin and W. D. Daugherty. He was an Aledo resident for over sixty years. Bob spent his childhood in Weatherford. His father left his family when Bob was five years old. He quit school when he was in the fifth grade due to dire financial circumstances. As a child he went from house to house seeking work and sometimes made money singing in traveling shows that came through town.

At age 17, Bob enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the Pacific Theater in World War II. While in the Navy, Bob earned his GED. When he left the Navy, he continued his education at Weatherford Junior College, and later earned his Bachelor's degree from Texas Wesleyan College.

While at Weatherford College he met and married Guylene Lasater Daugherty. They raised two children in Aledo, Robert Guy and Martha Dawn. In spite of the fact that he did not have a father as a role model, Bob was a devoted husband, father and mentor to his children. His life role models were his father-in-law, Guy Lasater and his brother, Dub Daugherty.

Lois Onetha Allen

Lois was born October 14, 1922, daughter of Walter Henry and Julia Lee King Moore, in Lamar County. She was a resident of Weatherford for over 20 years.

The Allen family wishes to send special thanks to Crescent Senior Care Center and Alpha Omega Hospice for their loving care.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband, V. L. Allen; daughter, Cecile Garrison; grandson, Troy Parnell; granddaughter, Angelina Marcantonio; brother, Sam Moore; and sister, Eunice Lambert.

Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Allen and Joan Marcantonio and husband, Richard, all of Weatherford; twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; sister, Maryles; brother, Curtis Moore; and many nieces, nephews and loving friends.

Judy Kay Carnes

Judy was born July 1, 1943 to Hayner and Catherine Buchner Goodpaster in Peoria, Illinois. She was a long time resident of Aledo. Judy loved children, cooking and country music, and she especially loved her dogs. Judy was a member of the Aledo Volunteer Fire Department-Ladies Auxiliary.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Larry Carnes of Aledo; children, Lisa Mason and husband, Ward, of White Settlement, Tracey James and husband, Joe Don, of Glen Rose, and Craig Carnes of Aledo; grandchildren, Ryan Mason, Kristen Mason, Sarah Pickering and Ashley Pickering; brother Jerry Goodpaster and wife, Karen; and numerous other loving family members and friends.

Mildred A. Todd

Mildred was born April 17, 1931 in Harrisburg, Penn., daughter of William E. and Imelda E. Toth. She was a long time Weatherford resident and devoted her life to her husband, Carl. Mildred was a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters, Court of Serenity # 2466. She was a facilitator of the Ladies Bible Class and also helped take food and clothing to the poor from the church.

Mildred did Hospice work for Family Service, was one of the original founders of Manna, Inc. in Weatherford and was a member of the Legacy Society - Cook Children's Medical Center of Fort Worth.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Carl Todd of Weatherford.

Donald Ray Whisenant

Mr. Whisenant was born February 4, 1922 in Mansfield. He was a resident of Weatherford and Parker County for many years. Ray was a retired automobile mechanic, owned and operated “Aledo Mobil” for 20 years and was a member of the New Faith Baptist Church. He was a devout Christian who loved doing the Lord’s work. His favorite past-time was spending time with his family. He also loved hunting and anything involving the out of doors. Mr. Whisenant set an excellent example for everyone with whom he came in contact on how to be a good husband, father, grandfather and friend. He could always be counted on to help in any situation. He was greatly loved, admired and respected by his family, friends and community.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Viva Whisenant, brothers, Coke Whisenant, Bob Whisenant, Myrl Whisenant, Sister, Betty Jo Norris and son David Whisenant.

Survivors include his wife, Clara Whisenant of Weatherford; daughters Marlene Hoover of Fort Worth, Sonja Spain and husband, Ken of Aledo, Neysa Clark of Fort Worth; son Steve Whisenant of Gordon; sister-in-law Dorothy Whisenant of Lipan; brother Bill Whisenant and Carolyn of Gadsden, Alabama; eight Grandchildren, Terri Cox, Bryan Sharpe, Shanna O’Donnell, Jalie Spain, Lacie Whisenant, Ray Whisenant, Jennifer Holcomb, Clay Clark; 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Elma Marie Taylor

Elma was born January 21, 1934 to Benjamin Franklin Dixon and Pauline Smithey Dixon in Sylacauga, Alabama. She was a long time resident of Parker County.

Elma was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Aron Bryant Taylor.

Survivors include her sister, Barbara Watson of Weatherford; three children, Brenda Carnley, Linda Freeman and Ronny Taylor and wife, Kathy, all of Weatherford; grandchildren, Tabatha Bonham and husband, Dale, of Fort Worth, Serena Means and husband, Kenneth, of Springtown, Jason Kasten of Weatherford, Danielle Anderson and husband, Heath, of Weatherford, and Alyshia Taylor of Weatherford; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchilren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
