United Way 2008 Kick-off Party

The Parker County United Way will have its 2008 kick-off party 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12 at Bearcat Stadium before the Aledo-Weatherford football game. For a small donation, names will be entered into a prize drawing for several items. Megaphones will be available for a small donation. There will be orange for the Aledo side and blue and white for the Weatherford side. The side with the most donations will win the "Team United" trophy. All winners will be announced at half time.

Aledoans to perform in Kids Who Care musical

Aledo may rake in hundreds of thousands in back taxes

Residents of Stone Bluff of Aledo say they found it strange that they weren't seeing Aledo on their tax bills in the past years.

The Parker County Appraisal District told them not to worry.

"Questions to tax authorities as to whether the Aledo tax was included in our tax bill always came back 'Yes,'" said Steven Tomhave, a Stone Bluff resident of about seven years. "They said it was included within the confines of the Parker County tax."

Power outage in Aledo

Update: City Administrator Ken Pfeifer reports that power to some homes in the Rolling Hills Subdivision closest to the point of today's accident will not have power restored until about 8 p.m.

Jessie is returning home

After spending more than a month in Baltimore, Md., enduring surgery that removed half of her brain, six-year-old Jessie Hall of Aledo is finally heading “home.”
Overcoming fevers that have popped up during her stay at Kennedy Krieger Institute for rehabilitation, doctors released Jessie on Thursday, July 17. The Hall family is scheduled to fly home today (Friday, July 18) where they will check into Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth to continue Jessie’s inpatient therapy.
