CERT class

Parker County’s spring 2013 CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) class will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Mondays, April 8, 15 and 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 27. The classes will be held at the Parker County Emergency Operations Center, 215 Trinity St. in Weatherford. For more information or to RSVP, contact Kit Marshall at kit.marshall@parkercountytx.com or 817-598-0969. Please RSVP so that further information can be sent prior to April 8. Plan to bring any snacks you may need for the evening meetings and a brown bag for the Saturday meetings.

Money management class

Parker County will hold a financial management class called “Managing Your Money” from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, at the Parker County Agricultural Services Class located at 604 North Main Street in Weatherford. The class is for anyone interested in how to better manage their money, but it also for people who are currently in bankruptcy Chapter 7 and/or 13. The intent of the course is to increase your financial knowledge and skills, topics everyone filing for bankruptcy needs to know. The topics covered will include: Developing a Spending Plan, Money Management, Wise Use of Credit and Consumer information. There is a $10.00 charge to attend the class. Public Construction Meeting

Parker County Judge Mark Riley will hold a public meeting to provide information about the upcoming FM 1187 construction at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15 at Aledo United Methodist Church. Information will be provided for businesses on FM 1187 as well as anyone who regularly drives on it.

Precinct and County Conventions

All Democratic Parker County Precinct Conventions will be on Saturday, April 21 at the Parker County Senior Center in Weatherford. Sign-in starts at 9:30 a.m., with precinct conventions to begin shortly thereafter. The countywide convention will follow. All registered voters in Parker County may attend and participate in the convention. At this event, the party will choose nominees to the State Democratic Convention. For more information, contact Democratic County Chair Jennifer Scott at 817-694-2261.

All Republican Parker County Precinct Conventions will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 21 at the Ninth Grade Center in Weatherford, followed by a County Convention to begin no earlier than 9:30. Registration will open at 8:00 am. Parker County registered voters will be eligible to participate. The Nominations Committee will accept applications for positions to be considered to be a delegate and alternate to the State Convention. An application for State Convention Delegate or Alternate is available at parkertxgop.org. The Resolutions Committee will accept resolutions for consideration now through April 7th. The proposed resolutions should be submitted to County Chair Zan Prince at 200 Palo Pinto, Weatherford, Texas 76086.

The class is for anyone interested in how to better manage their money, but it also for people who are currently in bankruptcy Chapter 7 and/or 13. County to hold meeting on redistricting

Parker County will hold a meeting open to the public on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011 in the Commissioners Courtroom of the Parker County Courthouse beginning at 6 p.m.

The meeting will allow the public to look at the few proposed changes to the county’s voting precincts and the minor changes to the commissioner’s precincts. The minor adjustments are due to population changes within the county.

Maps will be on display for residents to see and county officials will be on hand to answer any questions.
