Fort Worth Antiques and Art Show

The 51st Fort Worth Show of Antiques and Art will be held March 7-8 at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth. It will open at 9 a.m. each day and run until 7 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $7, good for both days, and children are admitted free.

The popular Tuesday Evenings at the Modern series of lectures and presentations by artists, architects, historians, and critics is free and open to the public each Tuesday from February 4 through April 8. Lectures begin at 7 pm in the Museum's auditorium. Seating begins at 6:30 p.m. and is limited to 250; a live broadcast of the presentations is shown in Café Modern for any additional guests. Free admission tickets (limit two) are available at the Modern's information desk beginning at 5 p.m. on the day of the lecture. The museum galleries remain open until 7 p.m. Tuesday evenings during the series (general admission applies).

Auditions for new members of the Texas Girls Choir will be held in January.
Girls 8 through 12 may audition. Must have an adequate voice, a B average in school and come prepared to sing the first verse of “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” or a song they know well and can sing a cappella.
Auditions are held at the choir’s headquarters, 4449 Camp Bowie Blvd. in Fort Worth.
Auditions are Jan. 7, Jan. 9, Jan. 14, Jan. 16, Jan. 21, Jan. 23, Jan. 28 and Jan. 30 at 6:45 p.m. and Jan. 11, Jan. 18 and Jan. 25 at 12:30 p.m.

Western Art Show

The Weatherford Art Association has issued a “Call-for-Artists” for the 2014 WAA Western Art Show and Sale that will run from Monday, Jan. 13 through Sunday, Feb. 9. Prospectus and entry forms are available at the Firehouse Gallery, 119 Palo Pinto or at weatherfordart.com.
All western themed art works for the show in any media that have not previously been in the show, and have been created within the last three years are eligible for this judged show. Registration dates are Jan. 8-9-10, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Firehouse Gallery in Weatherford. All framed art must be wired for hanging (no saw-toothed hangers). Plexiglass is required for works on paper.
Registration fees for non-members is $15 per entry, limit of three entries, and for members, $10 per entry, limit three entries per artist. Cash awards will be presented at the show reception Friday, Jan. 17 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Artist Randy Meador will judge the entries.
WAA is honored to feature Aledo artist, Homer Norris as the special guest artist during the Western Art Show.
