The Parker County Committee on Aging will present its annual Bag Lady Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6 at the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse Building in Weatherford. Randy Thomas from the Tarleton Small Business Development Center will lead a luncheon workshop on “Starting a Small Business,” hosted by the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce. The workshop will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, July 27 at Candlewood Suites, 215 Alford Dr. in Weatherford. Thomas will cover topics such as financing options, laws and regulations for starting a business, business plan writing process, accessing local, state and federal resources, and where you can get free, one-on-one help to get started. The Weatherford/Parker County Animal Shelter will have its first “Meet Your Match” day from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 9 at the shelter located at 403 Hickory Lane in Weatherford. There will be a free hotdog lunch, goody bags and an introduction to the available animals. As a promotion, adoptions will be $75 for female dogs, $70 for male dogs, and $45 for all cats on Saturday, June 9 only.
