The Alzheimer’s Association will host “The Science Behind Caregiver Support,” a community presentation about Alzheimer’s disease and the impact of the diagnosis on families from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Jan. 25 at Northside Baptist Church, 910 North Main Street in Weatherford. Alzheimer’s Association staff will be on hand to provide information about REACH (Resources for Enhancing Alzheimer’s Caregiver Health) and other local services. Presenters will include Laura Bauer, Director of National Initiatives at the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving, and local Alzheimer’s expert, Dr. Sheri Hull, founder of Brazos Regional Neurology. Parkinson Support Group of Tarrant County will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Monday Jan. 28 at the Broadway Baptist Church, Third Floor, 305 W. Broadway, Fort Worth. The speaker will be Susan Imke, FNP, GNP Senior Health Solutions, for a very interesting program entitled "Apathy in Parkinson Disease." Visitors are welcome and encouraged to attend. Parker County Pets Alive! And the Texas Coalition for Animal Protection (TCAP) will provide a monthly low cost spay/neuter and vaccination clinic from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27 at Cow camp Cowboy Church in Weatherford. The public is invited to take advantage of the low cost services regardless of income. No appointment is needed for vaccinations, testing or microchips. The Kilocycle Amateur Radio Club will have ham radio classes from 7-10 p.m. beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at LDS church on the corner of White Settlement Road and Chapel Creek. Classes cover what is needed for the FCC test to get a beginner ham license. There is no Morse code in the test. When the phones and internet are out, ham radio keeps working. The Friends of the Weatherford Library will have a visit with Santa from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6 at the Weatherford Public Library. Parents can bring cameras to take photos of their children with Santa. Admission is free.

Girl's Night Out
Parker County 4H will host its first annual Girl’s Night Out, Pinterest Style! from 6-9 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3 at Willow Lake Event Center (3220 Mineral Wells Hwy. in Weatherford) in The Barn. All proceeds will benefit the Parker County 4-H youth organization. The night of tutorials and shopping will include multiple DIY stations such as how to make a deco-mesh wreath, homemade laundry detergent and bath fizzies, food and drink samples, hair and makeup tutorials and more. Popular vendors include thirty-one, AdvoCare, Scentsy, as well as jewelry, homemade soaps and lotions and photography. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Admission includes all the tutorials, shopping and five raffle tickets. The raffle will include a deco-mesh wreath and tickets to Billy Bob's Texas. There will also be door prizes from vendors and local restaurants drawn throughout the night. Tickets can be purchased through the Parker County 4-H office at 604 North Main St. Suite 200, Weatherford, TX 76086 or by calling 817-598-6172.
