The City of Hudson Oaks will host National Night Out from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at three locations. Residents can attend the one closest to their home. Residents north of I20 can meet at the intersection of Gray Wolf and Red Eagle. Residents of Parker Oaks can meet on Austin Street and residents of Diamond Oaks can meet at 212 S. Lakeshore Drive.
National Night Out is an event developed by the National Association of Town Watch and was designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
The City hopes to encourage citizens to get out to meet their neighbors and learn more about how citizens can work together to fight crime. Public safety and administrative staff from the City will be at all three locations to meet with residents and answer any questions they have about City services.
The City will provide hot dogs, chips, drinks and cookies for participants at each location. The primary focus of the event will be on increasing citizens’ knowledge and awareness of techniques for deterring and preventing crime in residential neighborhoods.
Officers from the Hudson Oaks police department will visit each location to showcase departmental vehicles and equipment and make presentations about valuable crime prevention techniques.
