CROSS COUNTRY

Hall wins district title

Weatherford Hall Middle School won the District 8 championship on Oct. 2. Individual leaders were:

Seventh grade

Girls: 1. Ellie Whiteman, 9. Scarlet Rivera, 10. Makayla Raigoza.

Boys: 6. Aiden Wallace.

Eighth grade

Girls: 3. Anna Wyatt, 6. Charlotte Farhat.

Boys: 4. Jayden Hendrix.

 

FOOTBALL

Aledo Middle School results

Vs. Arlington Coble, Sept. 23.

Seventh grade: A won 6-0, game called due to lightning. B won 12-0.

Eighth grade: A won 39-12. B won 30-6.

Vs. Mansfield McKinzey, Sept. 30

Seventh grade: A won 31-0. B won 27-0. C defeated Springtown B 7-6.

Eighth grade: A won 28-12. B won 18-0.

All team remain undefeated in district play.

 

Weatherford middle School results

Tison

Eighth grade: A won 14-8, Players of the Game Parker Wren, Aidan Caraway, Mason Monterosa. B lost 16-0.

Seventh grade: A defeated Joshua Nichols 12–6, POF Cannon Coleman, Gavin Richardson. B lost 12-8.

Hall

Eighth grade: A defeated Cleburne 28-12 to remain undefeated. B won 30-0, POG Ryder Walsh rushing TD, 2-point conversion, Zayden Marinelli interception return for TD.

Seventh grade: A defeated Cleburne Wheat 28-20. B won 30-6. Both teams undefeated.

 

WCS wins homecoming

The Weatherford Christian School Lions won their homecoming game on Oct. 3, defeating Dallas Academy 45-0. The game was called at halftime by mercy rule.

 

GOLF

Trash to Treasure Tournament

The Fifth Annual Trash to Treasure Tournament benefiting Freedom House will be held at 9 a.m. on Oct. 13 at Canyon West Golf Course. Check in is at 7:30 a.m.

RODEO

WC teams shine at first rodeo

The Weatherford College rodeo team kicked off the 2025-2026 season with a bang at the Sul Ross State University Rodeo. The Lady Coyotes were team champions and the Coyotes were reserve champions (second place).

Slade Wood was named Men’s All-Around Champion.

 

TENNIS

Pickleball tourney

The 2nd Annual Aledo High School Pickleball Fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Oct. 25 at the AHS courts from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Proceeds go to improving the AHS tennis facilities.

Rain date is Nov. 1.

Entry fee for the doubles tournament, which is double-elimination, is $80 per team. T-shirts to those who register.

The tournament will have multiple brackets. There will also be food trucks and raffles.

Aledo Middle School results

Seventh grade: A lost to Mansfield Worley 16-25, 25-21, 14-16. B won 25-13, 25-14. C lost 21-25, 10-25.

Eighth grade: A defeated Worley 25-12, 25-19. B won 25-11, 24-26, 15-11. C won 25-17, 25-15.

 

More honors for WC

Weatherford College freshman outside hitter Mirabel Onyegwu earned her second Offensive Player of the Week honor from the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference. She led the Coyotes to back-to-back sweeps with a record-breaking .818 hitting efficiency vs. Southwestern Community College and 11 kills plus two aces vs. Collin College. That’s four straight weeks of POTW honors for WC volleyball.
