Rodeo: Weatherford College’s Gasperson ropes at nationals

Coyote finishes fifth

Weatherford College’s Catcher Gasperson placed fifth at the National Finals Steer Roping — College Division. The event took place on May 26 at Clarendon College.

Gasperson, from Decatur, competed for the Coyotes alongside teammate Zane Huffman, from Aledo. Gasperson was named Southwest champion in steer roping earlier this season.

Throughout the regular season, Gasperson consistently placed in steer roping events. He earned second place at the Ranger College Rodeo, the Howard College Rodeo, and the Clarendon College Rodeo. Gasperson finished third at the Sul Ross State University Rodeo and 10th at the Texas Tech Rodeo.

Gasperson will return for a fourth year at WC in the fall and anticipates graduating in May 2026 with his Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science in Organizational Leadership.
