Jimmy Soules

Posted

Jimmy Lewis Soules, 78, departed from this life on Sunday, January 7, 2024.

Jimmy was born January 31, 1945, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Luther Soules and Letha (Karnes) Soules.

Ever quick with a prank or a joke, Jimmy was known for his storytelling and making everyone smile, which is why he was nicknamed “Grin-daddy” by his grandchildren. Jimmy took great pride in his family and his profession. Farming and ranching were a way of life for him. He believed in the honor and privilege of working the land and feeding people.

He was a man of great integrity, character, devotion, and love, who always put others before himself. His hard work was reflected in his weather-worn hands and ruddy cheeks. He was a large man with a larger personality and heart. His favorite pastimes included driving his tractor, checking cows, and his greatest joy of all: bragging about his three grandchildren. His legacy will continue through the family he loved.

Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Linda (Allen) Soules of Aledo; son and wife, Tim and Michelle Soules of Aledo; daughter, Jennifer (Soules) Alford of Brock; granddaughter, Dr. Kameron Soules; grandson, T.J. Soules (currently attending Peru State College in Peru, Nebraska); granddaughter, Mya Alford (currently attending West Texas A&M in Canyon); sister, Wanda Bradshaw; sister and husband, Donna Kay and Mark Mauldin; large extended family, and many friends and neighbors.

If you prefer, in lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to a charity of your choice.

The graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the Hurst Ranch Cemetery in Hamilton County, near Star, Texas, officiated by Hank Kilgore. Serving as pallbearers are Tim D. Soules, T.J. Soules, Chad Boykin, Douglas Karnes, Randall Calaway, David Hale, Brandon Hyles, and Bill McElroy; honorary pallbearers are Terry Tosch, Bobby Boykin, Karry Harper, Wayne Coffman, Mark Mauldin, and Ed Sanders.
