Janie Martin Beggs

Posted

Mrs. George Beggs III died in the early hours of Tuesday, September 12, 2023, during her 97th year.

Born to parents Winnie and L.C. Martin, Janie had three siblings: Nellie, Cat, and Sonny. She spent her entire life in the Fort Worth area.

Janie graduated from R. L. Paschal High School in 1943, and went on to work for the Stein Family selling jewelry. One of her clients, Mrs. Francine Capera Beggs, introduced her son, George Beggs III, to Janie when he was home from the West Texas ranch. After many nights dancing at The Casino, Janie and George were engaged and married June 28, 1950. They raised their children and lived on Beggs Ranch in Aledo for more than 60 years.

Every Sunday the family was at church at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, followed by Daniel's for coffee and cherry cokes with the same cast of characters! Every weekend Janie and George were on the dance floor at RCCC. Janie, the life of the party and known for her impeccable style, entertained all with her one-liners, quick wit, and love of jewelry. Janie loved colorful bouquets, no matter the occasion, and popped into Enchanted Florist almost daily to say hello and admire all the arrangements. She loved playing tennis with friends and, although she never learned to swim, she waterskied all over Eagle Mountain Lake with the "Ski Group.”

And despite that inimitable verve and gusto for life, nothing compared to Janie's love for George, their four children, and three grandchildren. Janie and George had their first dance more than 70 years ago.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her beloved George.

Janie is survived by her children Janie Martin Beggs, George Beggs IV, Ed Farmer Beggs II, Judy Capera Beggs Clement and her husband, James Higbie Clement Jr; her loving grandchildren Capera Beggs Clement Norinsky (Igor), James Higbie Clement III (Paige), and Gregory Sayre Clement (Bebe); and her great-grandchildren Igor Alexander Norinsky, Capera Nellya Norinsky, Georgia Beggs Norinsky, James Higbie Clement IV, Janie Beggs Clement, and Harrison Browning Clement.

A Service at the Grave will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, on the Farmer Beggs Family Lot in Greenwood Memorial Park.

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church, All Saints Health Foundation, Union Gospel Mission, or a charity of your choice, in her memory, is suggested.
