Dr. Stephen Trent Johnson

Posted

Dr. Stephen Trent Johnson passed away suddenly on Friday, October 13th at his home in Annetta.

Born January 11, 1955, Steve was the devoted son of the late G.S. “Johnny” and Melba Johnson. After a decorated career as an Aledo High School running back, Steve attended Texas A&M and received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1980. He then returned to Aledo to serve this community for more than 40 years as the most caring and compassionate veterinarian any cat or cow could wish to have.

He was well-loved and always in awe of acts of community. Across his life, he was inspired by those in fellowship at the Aledo United Methodist Church, as well as the Parker County Cowboy Church, as they sought to love those around them.

He is survived by his loving children, Kema and Colin Johnson, his sisters JK Campbell and Jan Tonroy and their families, and a very large circle of friends and close family.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday, November 3, at Aledo United Methodist Church. Following the service, friends and family we will gather at (Steve’s favorite) Railhead’s Barbeque in Willow Park to continue the celebration of his life at an establishment where he became a fixture in his later years. The family welcomes all attending to dress however they would prefer, suggests breaking out the Hawaiian shirts and blue jeans in true Steve fashion!

Anyone who knew Steve will remember him best for his kind nature and his quirky sense of humor.  Steve was a natural and hilarious storyteller.  In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting your Steve stories!. They would like to collect as many of the stories that have kept his friends and family doubled over with laughter all these years.

Stories can be submitted either in written form or audio/video recordings to  storiesonsteve@gmail.com.
