To the victors go the spoils, and after winning the second state baseball championship in program history, the Aledo Bearcats had two players named Class 5A All-State Team by the Texas Press Association.

Senior pitcher Devin Miller and junior designated hitter Lucas Nawrocki were named to the first and third teams, respectively.

Miller posted an 11-1 record for the Bearcats, including garnering the victory in the 8-1 championship win against Comal Smithson Valley. In that contest he threw a four-hitter.

Nawrocki was 4-for-4 in the championship game with a pair of runs batted in and two runs scored. His hits included a triple and he also stole a base.

Nawrocki was also named the MVP of the Class 5A state championship game and is one of six Bearcats to be named to the All-State Tournament Team. He was joined by Miller, senior catcher Brennon Evans, senior shortstop Nick Foster, and juniors Dylan Duran and Landon Barnes at first and second base.

The Bearcats ended the season with a 34-8 record, tying the team record for wins in a season. It was their first state championship since 2014, a team that also won 34 games and was also coached by Chad Barry.

Brock also had a pair of players selected at the Class 4A level. Pitcher Evan O’Connor was named to the first team and first baseman Jake Windle was chosen for the third team.

The Eagles also had a player named to the Class 4A All-State Elite Team by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association, pitcher Jesse Rusinek.

The Eagles (30-5) advanced to the state semifinals in their first season in Class 4A. They were eliminated with losses of 7-6 and 2-0 to eventual state champion Longview Spring Hill.
