Leads host of Aledo honors

After leading his team to history, Aledo senior Joaquin Pacheco has been named the Most Valuable Player in District 5-5A by the league’s coaches. He was a key element in the Bearcats winning the first district championship in the program’s history.

Junior Townes VanHuysen was selected as the Newcomer of the Year.

The Aledo coaches, led by first-year head coach Brian Blackburn, were named the Coaching Staff of the Year.

The Bearcats finished 27-7 overall and 11-1 in district, advancing to bidistrict.

Enrique Pacheco, a junior and younger brother of Joaquin, was named to the first team. Second team accolades went to sophomore Caden Cunningham and senior Brett Barclay.

Receiving honorable mention were juniors Kaiden Clayborn, Dylan Pipkins and Carter Kinchen.

Academic all-district honors were earned by Barclay, Cunningham, Pipkins, along with managers Peyton Pritchard and Corbin Richwine, both juniors.
