After a rained out tournament in Midlothian, spring break and a non-competition week, the Aledo varsity tennis team came back strong to earn medals in nine divisions at the tournament hosted by Waxahachie High School on March 28.
With impressive 4-0 records for the day, Bryanna Orr won first place in Girls A Singles, Will Beyer and Francois Britz captured first place in the Boys Doubles B Division and Scott Mason and Elli Kate Bussmeir claimed first place in Mixed Doubles A.
After a first round loss, Ben Kurth fought his way to first place in the consolation round for Boys Singles A Division, with a record of 3-1 for the day. Casen Freeland earned two wins in the Boys Singles B Division.
Gracie Heydman and Sydney Byrd took second place in the Girls Doubles B division, ending the day with a 3-1 record. Jacob Heckathorn and Patrice Loftin placed second in the Mixed Doubles A division with a 3-1 record, after battling Mason and Bussmeir in an all Aledo final.
Craig Mason and Ben Farmer earned 3rd place in the Boys Doubles A division with a 3-1 record for the day. Also placing third were Kenley Germany and Lila Satterfield (2-1) in the Girls Doubles A Division, and Natalie Nawrocki (3-1) in the Girls Singles B Division.
The team will travel to Abilene on April 4 to participate in the Sharon Wartes Invitational on April 5-6.
