Bearcats end first week of practice with spirited scrimmage

August 16, 2014 by Tony Eierdam

Tony Eierdam/The Community News: Aledo senior defensive back Johnathan Durham intercepts a pass Saturday morning during the Bearcats intrasquad scrimmage at Bearcat Stadium.

The Aledo Bearcats concluded their first week of workouts with a full-pads intrasquad scrimmage Saturday morning at Bearcat Stadium.
It was the second day this week the Bearcats worked out in full gear.
"I liked our hustle and enthusiasm," Bearcats head coach Steve Wood said. "We still have a long way to go, but there were a lot of positive signs and it was a good way to end the first week."
Tailback Isaiah Mallory scored a pair of touchdowns. The first was a 12-yard run that was set up by a 50-yard strike from quarterback Luke Bishop to receiver Carter Windes.
Mallory's second TD - scored during the "two-minute drill" portion of the scrimmage - came on a 5-yard sweep on first and goal. That play was set up by a Bishop 16-yard pass to Austin Summerhill on third and 11.
