A 7:00 kickoff is scheduled from Handley Field.
It's still a little on the warm side, but some cloud cover is cooling off East Fort Worth. A nice night for a Texas High School Football Game.
Jonny Carter returns the kickoff to the 13 yard line. On the second play, Jess Anders picks up an Aledo first down at the 35. The next play he goes to the other side for 30 more. A Willie Gibson from Pate Davis completion for 13 more yards. A third down touchdown pass to John Whatley gets the Bearcats on the scoreboard first. It's 7-0 Aledo with 9:25 left in the first quarter after a Chance Nevarez PAT.
The South Hills Scorpions will operate from their own 25 yard line.
After allowing a single first down on defense, the Bearcats get the ball back at their own 13 after a nice return is negated by a penalty on the punt return.
The Bearcats drive is again interrupted by a penalty. They still manage to keep the drive moving and a Pate Davis to Willie Gibson touchdown covers the last 45 yards. 13-0 Aledo after a missed PAT.
South Hills has a drive going until Shea Woods intercepts a pass to give Aledo another chance from their own 35 yard line, the best starting field position so far tonight.
A long run by Jess Anders is again wiped out by a holding penalty.
Aledo works from their 39 yard line after changing ends to begin the second quarter. Pate Davis keeps the ball off the right side of the Aledo offensive line and takes it all the way for another Bearcat touchdown. After two point conversion by Gunner Johnson on a shovel pass the score is Aledo 21 South Hills 0 in the second quarter.
South Hills is unable to move the ball on offense and punts it back to the Bearcats, who start this drive in in Scorpion territory. Zach Hyles had a big tackle for a loss to slow the Scorpions momentum.
Pate Davis runs off the left side for another Aledo touchdown. This time its a Chance Nevarez PAT. Aledo 28 South Hills 0.
The Scorpions are moving the ball well until the Bearcats force a punt from mid field. Aledo will start at their 29 yard line.
Luke Bishop has replaced Pate Davis at quarterback for Aledo. They are forced to punt and South Hills has the ball at their own 29.
The clock will run out on the first half with the score Aledo 28 South Hills 0.
The second half starts with another Aledo penalty for a personal foul on the kickoff return.
South Hills starts on their 43 yard line after the penalty. After driving all the way to the Aledo 10 yard line and Jordan Mittie picks up a fumble following a big hit by Gunner Johnson and returns it 85 yards for another Aledo touchdown.
The PAT is good and the Bearcats lead 35-0.
South Hills starts from their 20 yard line. Again they are unable to move the ball and they punt to the Bearcats.
A couple of nice runs from Jess Anders lead to a Matthew Hawkins touchdown catch from Pate Davis for 35 yards and another Bearcat touchdown. 42-0 Aledo.
South Hills is held to 3 and out. A fake punt goes wrong and they are backed up to punt.
Aledo gets the ball back right at the 50 yard line. After another round of penalties leads to a Luke Bishop to Dylan Bush pass play to the Scorpions 34 yard line. Luke Bishop has another first down at the 18 on a keeper. Aaron Vidrine for another first down at the 8. Vidrine scores on a sweep to the right corner of the end zone and Nevarez PAT makes it 49-0 Bearcats.
South Hills ball at their 23 after the kickoff. Another outstanding defensive series by Aledo means another South Hills punt.
Aledo starts on their 21. Aaron Vidrine starts things off with a 9 yard run. His second carry is for a Bearcat first down. 2 more carries and another first down. 2 more carries and another first down. Another carry, another first down. Aaron Vidrine and the Aledo offense have had a nice last drive and the clock will run down with the Bearcats winning by a score of 49-0 over the South Hills Scorpions.
