Bearcats defeat Arlington Heights 45-2 in District opener

An early evening shower has cooled things off at Bearcat Stadium. It's a beautiful night for a High School Football game.

Aledo will receive.

Tyson Mauser returns the opening kickoff all the way to the Heights 47 yard line. An 8 yard gain on a screen pass to Jess Anders and another 8 on a Caleb Frysinger run get Aledo a down at the Yellow Jacket 31.

The Bearcat's go for it on 4th down. A nice Pate Davis to Taco Anderson pass nets a first down at the Heights 12. Two Caleb Frysinger runs later Aledo has it's first points. The PAT is good and the Bearcats lead 7-0 with 8:25 left in the 1st.

Aledo's defense, led by tackles from Clayton Lowe and Jordan Mittie, force the Jackets to punt after 3 plays.

Aledo quickly scores again on a Pate Davis to Caleb Frysinger pass over the middle for 43 yards and a touchdown. Another Chance Nevarez PAT and the Bearcats now lead 14-0 with 6:27 left in the 1st quarter.

Again, the Bearcat defense forces a three and out. Zach Hyles had a big defensive play. They have the ball back at their own 29 after the Yellow Jackets punt.

After a first down, Pate Davis throws a pass to Willie Gibson. Willie makes a great catch and breaks a tackle to go all the way for another Bearcat touchdown. Nevarez PAT is good, 21-0.

Unable to move the ball again, the Yellow Jackets punt the ball back to the Bearcats. Clayton Lowe has a nice return and Aledo is back in Jackets territory with good field position.

Jess Anders covers the last few yards, and it's now Aledo 28, Arlington Heights 0 after the PAT.

On the ensuing kickoff, Aledo's Jordan Mittie makes a big defensive stop and the Jackets must operate from their own 3 yard line.

The Bearcats get the ball back on their own 31 after the Yellow Jackets are forced to punt. A single first down is all the Bearcats can manage and they punt the ball back to the Yellow Jackets 21.

The Jackets punt again, after one first down, and the Bearcats will operate from their own 30.

Pate Davis keeps for 18 yards and another first down. A big play to Caleb Frysinger gets the ball to the 19. John Whatley to the 7 yard line. After a loss of 6 yards a Pate Davis to Taco Anderson pass gets Aledo on the scoreboard again and it's now 35-0 Aledo.

Heights is unable to move the ball. More great defense, a beautiful tackle by Gunner Johnson on third down, and the Bearcats are back in business at their 33 after the Jacket's punt.

Time will run out in the first half. 35-0 Aledo.

Aledo kicks off to start the second half.

Heights will operate from their 29 yard line.
Again, the Bearcat defense is up to the task.

A short punt will get the Bearcats the ball at mid field to begin their first drive of the second half. A good offensive series, featuring Jess Anders, is finished off with a Pate Davis keeper off the left side for another Aledo score. The PAT makes the score 42-0 Aledo with less than 9 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.

Aledo keeping the ball on the ground and using the clock. The drive ends with a Chance Nevarez Field Goal. Aledo 45, Arlington Heights 0.

The offensive line has led the way again tonight. The blocking up front has been the strength of this team. Caleb Buchanan, Cory Stitle, Preston Bradham, Casey Fowler and Tony Keith have given their quarterback time to operate and opened holes for the running game consistently.

The Bearcat defense forces another Yellow Jacket punt. Aledo will work from their own 4. The teams switch ends to begin the fourth quarter.

The Bearcats are unable to get a first down and set up to punt. A fumbled snap on the play results in a safety and Heights has their first points of the game. 45-2 Aledo.

The Yellow Jackets work from their 30 yard line. Aledo's Tyson Mauser has three big stops on the next defensive series. He has made his presence felt.

The Jackets punt the ball back to the Bearcats. They do a good job on coverage and down the ball at the Aledo 3 yard line. Bearcats ball with 97 yards to cover, less than 6 minutes to go.

Aledo has limited success. After a first down they punt the ball back to the Yellow Jackets at the Heights 33 yard line.

Aledo's Tyson Mauser makes another tackle to save a touchdown on the last play of the game. The final score is Aledo 45 Arlington Heights 2.
