Ladycats defeat Boswell, 64-40; Bearcats fall in 78-77 heartbreaker

It was a split for the Aledo High School varsity basketball teams in District 6-4A action Tuesday night at the AHS gym.

The state-ranked No. 8 Ladycats, behind a combined 54 points from Hannah Christian, Taylor Hays and Logan Mittie, ran past the Lady Pioneers of Boswell, 64-40.

The Ladycats remain undefeated in 6-4A with a 4-0 mark, while Boswell drops to 1-3.

Hays led the Ladycats with 23 points, Christian recorded 17 and Mittie added 17. Christian also registered a game-high 10 assists.

Parenting course begins Jan. 21

“Becoming a Love and Logic Parent,” a five-week parent training program designed by the Love and Logic Institute, Inc. will be presented in Aledo on Wednesdays beginning Jan. 21.

The course is designed to give parents practical skills that can be used immediately. Parents will learn skills to stop arguments and backtalk, teach children to do chores and homework first time asked, help children learn to think and act responsibly and develop effective problem solving skills.

Ladycats, Bearcats continue district hoop action at home Tuesday

Distrtict 6-4A basketball action continues tonight (Tuesday, Jan. 6) at Aledo High School as the Ladycats and Bearcats host Boswell.

The Ladycats and Lady Pioneers will tip off at 6 p.m. followed by the boys contest at 7:30 p.m.

The state-ranked No. 8 Ladycats (16-2) will bring a 3-0 league mark into the contest. Boswell (4-13) is 1-2 in district play.

The Bearcats (11-6, 1-0 in 6-4A) are coming off a district-opening win at Brewer, and will face a Boswell team on a 13-game winning streak, including a league-opening win.

Ladycats, Bearcats sweep at Brewer

Both the Aledo Ladycats and Bearcats won this afternoon (Saturday, Jan. 3) in Distict 6-4A basketball action over Brewer at Brewer High School.

The Bearcats, playing in their district opener, defeated the Bears, 72-64, while the state-ranked No. 9 Ladycats pushed their 6-4A mark to 3-0 with a 79-39 blowout over the Lady Bears.

The teams will return home Tuesday night to continue distict play against Boswell. The girls game will tip off at 6 p.m followed by the boys contest at 7:30 p.m.

Murder Mystery set for mid-January

Weatherford Stage Performers will present a murder mystery, Murder in Black and White, in dinner theater format Saturday, January 17, 2009 in the White Shadows home at Chandor Gardens in Weatherford. County officials to be sworn in Dec. 31

From the Parker County Judge's Office

Parker County’s newly elected officials and re-elected officials will hold a public Swearing in Ceremony in the County Court at Law 2 Courtroom of the Parker County Courthouse on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008 at 10:30 a.m.

All of the officials will be serving four year terms to begin Jan. 1, 2009. Parker County Judge Mark Riley said the public is invited and encouraged to attend.
