Harold Little made his transition in the early morning on Saturday, Jan. 29th after a long struggle with Parkinson’s. He died peacefully at home where he lived with his niece, Laura Anderson and her family. Born in Corsicana, TX on July 17, 1926, Mr. Little was reared in Weatherford and retired here in 1975. He was a member of the Christian Science Church.

Jack BordenJack Borden, 102-year-old practicing attorney and former Weatherford mayor, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011 in a Weatherford hospital.

Borden was born August 5, 1908, eight miles east of Weatherford on Clear Fork Creek, now a part of Lake Weatherford. The son of tenant farmers or share croppers, John Samuel Borden and Bess Wallis, he grew up in what was known as the Borden Community. He graduated from Weatherford College in 1931 and from University of Texas Law School in 1936.

He was elected as Parker County District Attorney in 1938 and went into the FBI in 1942. He was a charter member of the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse formed in 1947.

Polly BrownPolly Brown, age 97, of Weatherford, died Monday afternoon, January 17, 2011 in a local nursing facility. Born July 26, 1913 in Gibtown, Texas, a resident of
Weatherford for many years. She was a homemaker, retired cook for the
Weatherford Independent School District and member of the North Side Baptist
Church. Polly loved crocheting, gardening, cooking, quilting and sewing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Brown and a daughter,
Charlene Brown.

Daughter – Sandra Moss and husband, Ray of Weatherford
Sons – Charles Brown and wife, Frances of Weatherford

Jimmy Dale Tillery, age 52, of Mineral Wells, died Tuesday afternoon, January 18, 2011, in the Veterans Hospital in Dallas. Born September 20, 1958 in Amarillo, Texas, a resident of Weatherford and Mineral Wells for many years.
He was a Baptist, Marine Veteran and he will be dearly missed by all that knew him. Jimmy was preceded in death by his Mother, Hazel Louise Tillery in 1995.

Father – M. C. Tillery, Sr. of Mineral Wells

Patricia A. Kidd, 49, of Weatherford, died Wednesday, January 12, 2011 in a Fort Worth hospital. Mrs. Kidd was born October 5, 1961 in Fairfield Alabama. She was a District Clerk Chief Deputy for 10 years with Parker County and a member of Greenwood Baptist Church where she was a member of the Praise team. Patricia loved spending quality time with her Aunts, Uncles, cousins and extended family from Birmingham Alabama and San Antonio. She is preceded in death by her father Robert Earl Bibby. Maternal grandparents, Raymond and Ruth Register and Paternal grandparents, Square David and Lillie Alm Bibby

Dempsey Tagler Stice, 42, of Weatherford passed away Friday, January 14, 2011. Dempsey was born June 22, 1968 in Abilene, Tx to Orlano and Sonny Stice. Dempsey and his family moved to Weatherford as a small child and Weatherford remained his home. He graduated from Weatherford High School in 1985 and enlisted in the US Air Force where he served honorably. Dempsey returned home and his entrepreneurial spirit led to the opening of Stice Electronics, a successful company who served Weatherford for many years. Dempsey’s vision and drive did not stop there, he went on to form Stice Construction whose tremendous success led to many fine buildings being constructed and that will service as reminders of Dempsey’s vision for the community he loved.

Harley Carlesley Cox, 92, of Weatherford, passed away January 12, 2011 in a local nursing facility. Born May 21, 1918 in Dalhart, Texas he was a long time resident of Parker County. Harley was an employee for Bell Helicopter where he retired as an inspector, a member of North Side Baptist Church and the Phoenix Lodge #275. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid dancer. Harley is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Agatha Cox and his sister, Viola Cannon. Survivors include: wife, Patricia Cox of Weatherford, daughter, Frances Cox Berkley and husband Eugene of Weatherford; brother, Onnie Leo Cox and wife Bobbie of Killeen; three grandchildren Eddie, Vickie and Ricky Berkley; five great grandchildren; three nephews and one niece.

Roxie Bernice Duke, 93, passed away Monday, January 10, 2011 in Arlington.

Services: Graveside service 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 14, at Greenwood Cemetery of Weatherford.

Bernice was born in Santo, Texas, to J. E. and Roxie Lee Bankhead. Bernice was a graduate of the University of North Texas at Denton. She and her family lived in Levelland, Andrews and then Brownfield, Texas, where she taught English for many years. Bernice later moved to Mineral Wells where she resided for several years before moving to Arlington, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack Fulgham, and then Edward Duke. Bernice’s sister and brother also preceded her in death.

Lessie Marie Strickland, 80, of Weatherford, died Tuesday, January 11, 2011 in a Stephenville hospital. Mrs. Strickland was born June 29, 1930 in Parker County where she was a life long resident until moving to Stephenville in 2008. Marie was a billing clerk, a homemaker and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She enjoyed her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Strickland is preceded in death by her husband Travis Strickland, parents, Clarence and Estelle Blackerby and brother, Edwin Blackerby.

Gabriele Sonia Holman, 62, of Weatherford passed away Friday, January 7, 2011 in the Weatherford hospital.
Born December 21, 1948 in Schweinfurt, Germany, Sonia was a long time resident of Parker County. She was a homemaker and a teacher at Ikard Elementary. Sonia loved working for the school and enjoyed teaching her students.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Anita Haas Nicholson. Sonia is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Tom, Sr.; daughters, Debra Free and husband Billy of Jasper Georgia and Kimberly Smith of Georgia; step daughters, Desarae Holman of Greensboro, NC and Star Elaine; son, Thomas Wayne Holman, Jr.; eight grandchildren, Doug, Christopher, Ryan, Emily, Travis, Brittny, Cheyenne and Dalton.
