Truett and Virginia lived in Weatherford for many years, moved to Fort Worth, and retired to Granbury. Truett was a gentle, loving man who was firm in his Christian beliefs. His advice was, "Know God--Always keep Him with you".
Granddaddy loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and they always considered him their hero. Nathan said of him, "He is the bravest man I ever met." When asked why, he said, "He fought in the war and now he is fighting this illness." Caitlan wrote, "I will live out your "love relentlessly" attitude, and do my best to bring joy to everyone I meet, just like you did." Daddy and Granddaddy died as he lived, in tune with the Lord and a godly example to everyone. He was a Prayer Warrior and thanked God for his salvation daily. He loved his family and he prayed for them daily as well as others.
