Mary Evelyn Fox, 84, of Weatherford died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, surrounded by her family at a local hospital.
Funeral service is set for 10 a.m. Friday in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford with interment at Hill Cemetery in Parker County. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mary Evelyn Phillips was born Aug. 31, 1929 to Pelham Bailey and Mary Carolyn Thomas Phillips in Millsap. She grew up in Millsap and graduated from Millsap High School. She met and married James "Jim" Fox March 18, 1951. She worked as an administrative assistant for the Department of Human Resources and retired from after many years of dedicated service. Mary loved to sew, cook, play piano and sing, but most of all she loved her family. She was a devoted Christian and was a lifelong member of Highway Church of Christ.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James "Jim" Fox Feb. 18, 2014; daughter, Angie Jackson; and grandson, Justin David Fox.
Survivors include her sons, Gregory Fox and Michael Fox, of Weatherford; grandchildren, Phillip, Amy, Josh, Melissa, Bailee, Jeremiah, Sarah, and Jacob; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Opal Thornton; brothers, Orville Phillips and Cleo Phillips; brother-in-law, Charles Fox and wife, Jenette, of San Antonio; friend, Nancy Fox of McAllen; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of church family and friends.
