Donald Ray “Donnie” Swancy, 62, of Weatherford, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2014 at his residence. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8 in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel with interment in East Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at the funeral home
Mr. Swancy was born Dec. 8, 1951 in Weatherford, where he had lived most of his life. Swancy, formerly of Las Vegas, was a radio broadcaster and former professor at UNLV. He was a member of the Couts Memorial United Methodist Church, a music aficionado, rock and roll historian, and author of the textbook, “British Invasion ‘60s Music.”
He is survived by his mother, Lanette Swancy of Weatherford; sister, Kay Kearby of Fort Worth; brothers, Craig Swancy and wife, Ruth of Weatherford and Doug Swancy and wife, Kimberly of Weatherford; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
