Suzanne Roberts Brown of Weatherford died July 6, 2014, after a courageous 50-year battle with Type 1 Diabetes and all the many complications associated with the debilitating disease.
Memorial service is set for 2 p.m. Friday at North Side Baptist Church, 910 N. Main St., Weatherford.
In lieu of usual remembrances, the Brown family suggests contributions in Suzanne's memory to North Side Baptist Church Music Ministry, 910 N. Main St., Weatherford, Texas 76086.
Mrs. Brown was born in Nocona Dec. 10, 1953, the daughter of Wylie and Adeline (Letz) Roberts. She moved to Kaufman in 1963 and graduated from Kaufman High School in 1972. Brown attended Tyler Junior College for one year and transferred to Texas Woman's University in Denton where she earned her bachelor's degree in nursing. She worked for 30 years as a dedicated nurse in Weatherford, and All Saints and Harris Methodist hospitals in Fort Worth.
Brown married Jerry Wayne Brown May 30, 1975 in Kaufman. They made their home in Weatherford, where their son, Matthew Wesley was born. The family enjoyed skiing and a variety of other vacations. Suzanne especially enjoyed visiting and traveling with a group of life long girlfriends from her school days dubbed the "sisterchicks."
She is survived by her husband, Jerry; her son, Matt, his wife, Kim, and granddaughter, Emma Claire; parents, Wylie and Adeline Roberts, of Kaufman; mother-in-law, Dorothy Brown of Weatherford; sister, Sherilyn Hatchel and husband, Marshall, of Kaufman; and a great number of relatives in both families; as well as many friends in the Weatherford area and in Kaufman, where she grew up.
