Robert J. "Bob" Lavender, 87 died Friday, June 20, 2014.
Service is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at The Meeting Place at Ash Creek Baptist Church, 301 S. Stewart, Azle 76020. Interment will be at New Hope Cemetery, 782 New Hope Rd., Boyd 76023. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Monday at White's Azle Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ash Creek Baptist Church.
Mr. Lavender was born Dec. 11, 1926, in Fort Worth to Leo Lester and Pearl Beasley Lavender. He graduated from North Side High School and from Texas A&M in 1953. He married Emma Lee Dunkin Sept. 5, 1947. She preceded him in death Nov. 14, 2013. Lavender served his country in the United States Army in World War II.
He was a Mason, a member of the Breakfast Optimist Club in Fort Worth and a member of the Society of Professional Engineers. He was a faithful member and deacon of Ash Creek Baptist Church in Azle.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Leota Garrison.
Survivors include his son, Mike Lavender and wife, Ellen, of North Richland Hills; daughter, Betsy Mulder and husband, Alan, of Willow City; son, Craig Lavender and wife, Nancy, of Azle; grandchildren, Micah Lavender, Melissa Lotspeich, Chris Mulder, Brandon Lavender and Lindsay Gray; nine great-grandchildren; and other loving family and friends.
