Mr. Young was born Oct. 15, 1945 in Midland to Alvin and Helen Young. He graduated from Midland Lee High School and West Texas State University, now West Texas A&M, with a bachelor's degree in psychology. While in college, Bill was involved in ROTC, which led him to serve in the U.S. Army after graduating. He served two years and rose to the rank of first lieutenant.
Young married Susan Lacey March 31, 1990 and they had two daughters. He supported his family by working as a QA engineer for General Dynamics, now Lockheed Martin. After dedicating many years to General Dynamics, Bill decided he would like to spend more time with his daughters and became a stay-at-home dad.
Continuing his legacy as a public servant, Bill served on the Hudson Oaks City council. Bill was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother and friend and showed many people the meaning of public service. He will be greatly missed.
Young was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Young, and brother, Ray Young.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Susan Young; daughters, Sarah Young and Rachel Young; mother, Helen Young; brother, Dan Young and wife, Mary; and several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
