Chuck was born in El Reno, Okla., on March 26, 1926, and was raised in nearby Calumet. He served in the United States Air Force near the end of World War II. Chuck married Norma Jeanne Wellman of Oklahoma City and they recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary. He and Jeanne had four children. They moved to Fort Worth in 1952 and then to rural Parker County in 1964, living first near Springtown and then between Azle and Weatherford. Chuck had a career as a design engineer, primarily for General Dynamics and additionally for other military-technology companies.
Chuck's great passion, beyond family and career, was flying light planes, and he spent some of his most glorious moments soaring over the Texas countryside. Among his children's fondest memories are the rides all enjoyed with their dad. So great was his enthusiasm that eventually Jeanne took flight instructions as well and they enjoyed time in the plane together.
