A loving wife and devoted mother, Mary Ann was born November 12, 1928 in Weslaco, TX to parents, Cleveland and Lucy Burton. She attended college in Nashville, TN, Dallas, Waco and Canyon, TX. earning degrees from Baylor University and West Texas State University.
Wherever Mary Ann and her late husband, Cecil E Massey lived, she was passionate about raising her family and the Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school, played piano, led UMW groups and volunteered in many capacities. Mary Ann was very active in community theater. Directing, costume design and construction, stage design; behind the scenes roles suited her as she nourished and shared a love of theater first found in college while studying under Paul Baker. She was many times a Den mother for her sons' Scouting activities as well being active in her daughter's interests including Girl Scouts and dance. Later in life she continued by traveling the state to attend concerts, plays, contests, recitals, graduations and the like for her five grandchildren.
Mary Ann is survived by her sons, Cleve, Neal and Mark and wife, Shawn; her daughter, Linda; five adoring grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; as well as countless friends and relatives who will forever remember her for her selflessness, counsel and love of life.
