William Afton Daniel was born May 16, 1934, in Clay County, to Jewel Wilson and Henry Richard Daniel. He graduated from Mountain View High School in Mountain View, Okla. in 1953. In Oct. 1953, he joined the Army, where he worked on helicopters and learned skills that would eventually lead him to a career with the Federal Aviation Administration. He retired from the F.A.A. in 1994 and ran his own aviation consulting firm, Bill Daniel and Associates, until December 2009.
It was in 1955, while stationed at Fort Rucker, Ala. that William met and married the love of his life, Margaret Snellgrove. William and Margaret were married on Oct. 27, 1956, in Newton, Ala. Together they were blessed with five children, Douglas, Karen, Bruce, Laura and Aelanda.
A special thank you to the staff at Estates Health Care and Texas Hospice for their care and support during William's final days.
