The Parker County Office of Texas AgriLife Extension Service is sponsoring a water well screening day for area residents Wednesday, Oct. 20.
The well water screening day is designated to inform private water well owners and users on the condition of their well water of possible contamination from common contaminants, according to Jon Green, Parker County Extension Agent-Agriculture.
Contaminants for which water will be screened include fecal coliform, salinity and nitrates.
To receive an approved water sampling bag and instructions for taking the well water sample, residents can visit their county commissioner precinct barns or come by the Parker County Extension office located at 604 N. Main St. in Weatherford. Cost of the screening is $5 per sample and is required when the bag is picked up.
