October 2, 2010 by Tony Eierdam

Coming back from a 2-1 deficit in games, the Aledo Ladycats won game four by a 25-16 count and rode that momentum to win decisive game five in blowout fashion, 15-6, over the Springtown Lady Porcupines Friday night in District 5-4A action at Springtown.

The 25-27, 25-22, 22-25, 25-16, 15-6 win elevates the Ladycats' record to 25-8 and 7-0 in district play. Aledo will continue district play at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, at Birdville.

"Coach (Kathy) Goings told us (after game three) that there was no way we were going to lose the match," senior middle hitter Jordan Jacobs said. "We are a tight-knit team, and we just drew closer, got focused and refused to lose.

"Our goal is to go undefeated in district, and we can still achieve that."

Jacobs, senior Christa Daniel and sophomore middle Briana Sharratt combined for 45 kills. Daniel led with 17 kills, Jacobs added 16 and Sharratt finished with 12.
