Additional layoff in Willow Park

Willow Park City HallLess than a month after former Willow Park Planning and Zoning Secretary Becky Stokes was laid off because of "budget constraints," another layoff has come to Willow Park City Hall.

Deborah Hall, municipal court clerk, has been laid off effective the end of the 2009 fiscal year (Sept. 30), according to a reliable source speaking on the condition of anonymity.

Hall was made aware of her dismissal Tuesday afternoon.

Deputy Court Clerk Ester Diaz is expected to take over as municipal court clerk Oct. 1.

Willow Park Mayor Ken Hawkins is not available to comment. The mayor recently established a new policy that requires the media to submit questions in advance with a 72-hour waiting period. The Community News has prepared questions for Hawkins and is in the process of submitting them to City Administrator Candy Scott who will then turn them over to the mayor and City Attorney Rider Scott for review.
