Those interested in learning to weld or wanting to improve welding skills will have ample opportunity at the Weatherford College Education Center Mineral Wells this fall. A variety of evening classes are scheduled beginning in September.
“Basic Shielded Metal ARC Welding” covers basic maintenance and structural welding techniques and applications. Topics include principles of arc welding, selection of electrodes and amperage settings for various materials.
In “Shielded Metal ARC Welding,” the theory of shielded metal arc welding processes are explained. Topics include skills necessary in the welding process and the selection of materials and
equipment. Students will be able to define the principles of arc welding, interpret electrode classifications and perform welding operations in various positions using different joint designs.
“Pipe Welding” covers techniques and applications. Students will be able to describe equipment and pipe preparation,and perform 1G, 2G, 5G, and 6G welds with various electrodes.
All classes meet on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Cost for each class is $224, and students must supply project materials, helmet, gloves, and safety goggles. Financial aid is available.
