Sat, 03/29/2014 - 10:00am
The East Parker County Library is hosting a Parker County Sketchbook Tour of significant historic sites Saturday, March 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Tickets, which include a map of the route, are for sale at the library, $10 per individual or $25 per car.
The tour will be self-paced and will include “Stop and See” and “Stop and Do” sites. A separate bike route is also available.
The tour gets under way at the library in downtown Aledo.
Subsequent stops include Tunnel Road and Underwood Cemetery, Log Cabin at the A.J. Wood home, El Chico Ranch/Lodge, Willow Springs Cemetery, Doss Heritage and Cultural Center, Holland Lake Park, Annetta United Methodist Church, Parker County Cowboy Church, Red Rock Gym at Vandagriff Elementary and Front Street in Aledo.
Some sites will include information, food and fun events.
The One Book/One Community project is a nationwide effort to develop a community of readers by encouraging residents to all read the same book.
EPCL selected the book by local author Homer Norris, which was hand-written and illustrated, that delves into some of the history of the East Parker County area.
Proceeds from the tour benefit the services of the library.
