State-ranked No. 12 Ladycats close out non-district volleyball play with sweep of North Crowley

Senior middle Jordan Jacobs had a team-high 11 kills with four blocks and senior hitter Christa Daniel added 10 kills to lead the Class 4A state-ranked No. 12 Aledo Ladycats to a 25-22, 25-19, 25-19 victory over 5A North Crowley Tuesday night in a non-district match at North Crowley.

The win - in the final non-district match for Aledo - raises the Ladycats' record to 18-8.

The Ladycats will begin District 5-4A action at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at home against rival Birdville.

Aledo junior hitter Tyler Gromann finished with seven kills while adding three blocks, with sophomore setter Mallory Powell recording a match-high 31 assists.

Defensively, senior libero Taylor Brown led with 15 digs, with Daniel registering 13 digs and junior defensive specialist Hannah Loftin adding a season-high 12 digs.

In sub-varsity action, the Ladycats junior varsity swept North Crowley, 25-15, 25-12. The Aledo freshman "A" team won in three games, 22-25, 25-17, 25-18, and the freshman "B" team completed a sweep of North Crowley with a 25-16, 25-23 victory.
