The Class 4A state champion Aledo Bearcats football team was honored this afternoon (Friday, Jan 15) with a parade through downtown Aledo and a rally at the Aledo High School gym.

Hundreds of Bearcats fans lined FM 1187 to cheer the team, coaches, trainers and cheerleaders in a parade led by the Bearcat Regiment.

Fans and students packed the AHS gym at the ensuing rally, where Aledo Mayor Kit Marshall declared "Friday, Jan. 15, as Aledo Bearcat Day in Aledo." Mayors from the surrounding Annetta's, Willow Park and Hudson Oaks also declared Jan. 15 as "Bearcat Day" in their respective towns.

Bearcats head coach Tim Buchanan thanked the Aledo ISD administration and the community for their support, and awarded state-championship certificates to players, trainers and cheerleaders.

After the presentation of certificates, fans and children stormed the gym floor to get autographs from players, cheerleaders and coaches.
