Jan Bateman, a resident of Weatherford, started her art career at Oklahoma State University, Texas Woman’s University and Weatherford College. Her successful 25-year career as a commercial artist and fashion illustrator lends confidence to her control of design and technique. She credits perfecting her skills with private lessons from some of the nation’s most well known artists, including Rod Riddick, Neil Boyle, Jim Wilcox, Louis Escobedo, Zhang Wen Zin, and renowned portrait painters Bettina Steinke and Daniel Green.
Jan was honored by the “Pastel Society of America” with a scholarship to the “Art Students League of New York,” and has received many other awards for her pastel and portrait work.
