Dr. Dale Rollins, our Extension Wildlife Specialist from San Angelo, will present a program on Feral Hog Management at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12 at Sweeney Ranch, 5403 Old Dennis Road. (Take exit 406 off of I-20 and head south. The gate entrance will be on the left and is approximately 6.5 miles past the Pilot Truck Stop.)
If you have encountered feral hog damage or would just like to know more about feral hogs and their management, this program should be helpful. “Take this opportunity to learn from one of the best,” said Jon Green, County Extension Agent Ag. - Parker County. “Rollins is known nationwide for his work with quail but he is also quite knowledgeable in the management of feral hogs. Hogs cause millions of dollars in damages to crops, livestock, and wildlife each year in Texas and seem to be getting worse.”
Various kinds of hog traps will be on display and participants will hear about feral hog biology, current status, management options, trapping techniques and other control methods, said Green.
The cost for this program is $10 per person, payable at the door. To help in planning, call 817-598-6168 or email firstname.lastname@example.org by noon that day to RSVP.
