The Aledo Ladycats volleyball team raised its record to 11-6 after a convincing 25-15, 25-16, 25-12 sweep over Denton Guyer Tuesday night (Aug. 24) in a non-district match at Guyer.

Sophomore setter Mallory Powell recorded a match-high 29 assists. Senior outside hitter Christa Daniel led the Ladycats with 11 kills, while senior middle Jordan Jacobs added six.

Daniel closed out game one with a kill form the left side, and in game two, a back row kill from junior defensive specialist Hannah Loftin sealed the contest to give the Ladycats a 2-0 lead in games.

In game three, the Ladycats jumped out to an 11-3 lead, but Guyer came back to cut the Aledo advantage to 16-10.

After the teams split the next two points, Kelcie Childs went on a seven point service run, including consecutive aces, to bring the contest to match point with AHS in front, 24-10.

Three rallies later, Guyer misfired on a return as the Ladycats took a 13-point victory and the match.

Aledo will play next at the Fredericksburg tournament which begins with pool play on Thursday (Aug. 26).

In sub-varsity action, the Ladycats freshman team defeated Guyer, 25-13, 21-25, 25-23, while the Ladycats junior varsity downed Guyer, 25-14, 25-22.
