SCU arrest five for drug charges

August 12, 2010 by Bailey Urban

Weatherford-Parker County Special Crimes Unit investigators conducted a search warrant which led to the arrest of five suspects in the 5000 block of Highway 199 in Springtown.

Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said the incident occurred Tuesday evening, where three women and two men were taken into custody.

SCU investigators said the homeowner/occupant was not present at the time they conducted a search warrant, which stemmed from a narcotics investigation at the residence. A male suspect, later identified as Jory King, attempted to flee from investigators on foot but was quickly apprehended just outside of the home after wrestling with officers, resisting arrest.

Investigator’s seized 10.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, packaging and digital scales during the search. Inside the residence, investigators seized less than one gram of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, packaging and digital scales typically used in the distribution of methamphetamine, a loaded .22 revolver pistol, and four Hydrocodone pills found inside one of the female suspect’s purse. A male suspect was found to have a large sum of cash on his person. Investigators discovered 1.6 grams of Hydromorphone hidden in an Altoid’s case inside the second female suspect’s purse.

SCU investigators said the Hydromorphone, also known as Dilaudid, is a controlled substance.

“The drug is a highly-potent pain killer narcotic which is opiate-based and used as a synthetic heroin on the streets,” Sheriff Fowler said.

The suspects arrested Tuesday included Shanon Lenore Taff, 33, of Springtown, who was charged with possession of a controlled substance; Lori Genevera Jordan, 35, of Fort Worth, who was charged with manufacture delivery of a controlled substance; Scott Lee Brunson, 30, of Azle, who was charged with manufacture delivery of a controlled substance; Jory Lee King, 27, of Azle, who was charged with manufacture delivery of a controlled substance and resisting arrest search seizure transport; and Cristal Nicole Westerman, 21, of Azle, who was charged with manufacture delivery of a controlled substance.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Jordan remained jailed on a $20,000 bond. Brunson remained jailed and his bond had not been set. King’s remained incarcerated on a $45,000 bond. Westerman also remained jailed on a $40,000 bond. Taff was released later Tuesday on a $2,500 bond.
