WEATHERFORD — The Weatherford College administration and trustees are going to develop ideas and an eventual plan on how to come up with a local policy regarding revenue from gas wells located on campus property.
The non-action item was discussed in great detail during a Wednesday noon meeting of the board of trustees. One of its own, Roger Grizzard, said he thought the administration’s stance on not being totally depended on gas revenues for college development was a sound approach.
It was in keeping with a draft presented to trustees by Weatherford College President Joe Birmingham, who described this issue at this current stage as “food for thought.”
The proposed policy explains that revenue received from gas wells would be used in the expenditures “clearly identified and approved by trustees in the annual budget, unless otherwise approved by the board.”
Andra Cantrell, vice president of Financial and Adminstrative Affairs, said the college has two gas wells in production south of the city.
