St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1802 Bethel Road, Weatherford. Father John Casey will officiate.

Interment: Memory Gardens of the Valley, 5600 Mineral Wells Highway, Weatherford. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Lynn Brooks Cardwell was born February 6, 1927, the third of six children to the late William Kendall and Varina Smith Cardwell, in Louisville, Ky. Lynn married the former LaVerne Searcy in Louisville, Ky., on June 20, 1964, and they began their life together. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and made his career with the United States Postal Service. Lynn retired from the postal service after many years of dedicated service in Pasadena, Calif., and moved to Texas in 1988.

Lynn was an avid coin and stamp collector and loved to camp and travel with LaVerne. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church and third-and fourth-degree Knights of Columbus.

Lynn was preceded in death by a son, Steve Newkirk; a grandson, John Cardwell; his parents; brother; and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife, LaVerne Cardwell; children, Sandra Sims, Richard Cardwell, Vicki Gordanier, Patte Marling, Terri Gay Cardwell, Cathie Mollenhoff, Terri Thorne, Cyndi Herron and Kevin Newkirk; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of loving family and friends.
