Going into the game the ‘Cats were 2-2 for the early season. They had beaten Haltom 6-2 and Trinity 9-0 the previous week in the Birdville Tournament.
Grapevine was undefeated going into the game.
The Ladcats’ Allie Arneson #6 had a double in the game and Megan Mason #15, the designated hitter, hit two singles. Kacie Brann, the senior pitcher, who has signed with Angelo State, had a single and an RBI. Alex Cook #9 had a hit, and Tori Gore, a sophomore, scored a run.
“We scored in the sixth, left the bases loaded and needed one hit to make this a completely different game,” Coach Lemons said.
The Ladycats won three of their six games last weekend at their tournament in Aledo. The teams that competed were A&M Consolidated (5A), Grapevine (5A), Aledo (4A), Lake Dallas (4A), Northwest (5A), Arlington Bowie (5A) and Graham (3A).
The tournament opened up with Aledo beating A&M Consolidated 9-5 on Thursday.

In the final game of the tournament, Aledo played Graham. From the start Aledo had a big lead. They were up 8-3 in the first three innings.
“The girls just shut down – they need to keep their foot on the pedal and keep going,” said Coach Lemons. Aledo defeated Graham 8-6.
The Ladycats will travel to college station for the A&M consolidated tournament March 1-3. They will be tested as this tournament is loaded with top ranked teams. In pool play they will meet #3 ranked Dripping Springs, Henderson (3A ranked #8 in the state) and High Tower.
