Nancy Kay Merritt Daugherty

Nancy Kay Merritt Daugherty was born on the family farm in Garrett, Texas on June 25, 1940, to Jimmie Brown Merritt (Bobo) and Willis H. Merritt. When her father returned from WW II, the Merritt family moved to Weatherford, Texas in 1946.

After graduation from Weatherford High School, she attended Weatherford Jr. College where she was involved in numerous activities.

In September of 1959 she married her high school sweetheart, Charles Daugherty.

Nancy spent all of her professional career working in the Fort Worth Independent School District and her final years before retirement were at Cooks Children's Hospital.

She was a faithful member of the Weatherford South Main Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Willis Merritt Jr. (Bud).

She is survived by her two children, Chuck Daugherty and wife Karla and Susan Daugherty Sodek and husband Ben, all of Weatherford, Texas, and four grandchildren, David Daugherty, Sarah Daugherty Brown and husband, Dusty, Jessica Sodek and Sam Sodek, one sister Linda Merritt Martin and husband (Paul) of Adkins, Texas. One sister-in-law Sue Merritt of Lancaster, California and several nieces and nephews.
