On 1st down a Matt Bishop to Willie Gibson pass is good for 6 and the PAT is good. Aledo 7 Manvel 0 with 5:37 left in the first quarter.
The Mavericks are held on the next series, but get off a beautiful punt to get the Bearcats started inside their own 10 yard line.
A Pate Davis from Matt Bishop completion gives Aledo a 1st down. A penalty on the Manvel defense will give Aledo the ball at their 46. A crossing pattern is a completion to Johnathan Gray for a Bearcat 1st down at the Manvel 39 as the first quarter ends.
Manvel intercepts an Aledo pass and work from their own 31 yard line.
Two plays later, Todd Christian returns the favor, (pun intended) and an interception, for 69 yards. Aledo leads 14-0 after a Chance Nevarez PAT.
After being held on offense, Manvel is forced to punt. An Aledo fumble on the punt will give the Mavericks another chance at the Aledo 27.

Aledo will get the ball back and are now working from their 37 yard line with a 7 point lead and 7 minutes left in the half. Johnathan opens the drive with big yards around the left side and the Bearcats are now deep in Manvel territory.
Matt Bishop covers the last 8 yards keeping around the left side and Aledo is now up 21-7 with 4 minutes left in the half.
A nice drive by Manvel, well into Aledo's end of the field, ends when the Bearcat defense forces them to turn the ball over on downs.
Aledo is working from the 32 yard line when Johnathan Gray breaks a long run for 49 yards. The Bearcats score on a Matt Bishop to Parker Bradham pass play. The PAT is good and they now lead by a score of 28-0 with 1:15 left in the half.
Manvel will start at their 21 yard line to begin their first series of the 2nd half. They are held and punt the ball to Aledo.
Aledo is moving the ball pretty well, but yards are hard to come by against a tough Maverick defense.
Aledo turns the ball over on downs and Manvel will operate from their 42.
The Mavericks make the most of the opportunity and put together a long drive. They score on a pass completed to the front corner of the end zone. The score is 28-14 Aledo with just under 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.
Aledo starts at their 27 yard line. Matt Bishop passes to Pate Davis for a first down at the 42 on a third down and 4.

Once again the Mavericks are able to put together a scoring drive. They have made it a 7 point game, 28-21 Aledo, with 1:45 left in the 3rd quarter.
An onside kick attempt gives Aledo the ball near mid field. Johnathan carries to the 13 yard line. On a 4th and 2 Matt Bishop keeps up the middle for another Aledo touchdown and Chance Nevarez PAT makes it 35-21 Bearcats as we get ready for the 4th quarter.
Manvel again responds by driving to the Aledo end zone, the last two yards coming on a run up the middle, and they have again made this a 7 point contest, 35-28 with 9:35 remaining in the game.
The Bearcats are not able to run the ball early in the next drive and a Matt Bishop to Pate Davis pass play gets them into the Manvel end of the field.
A 37 yard Johnathan Gray touchdown run will give the Aledo Bearcats a 14 point lead, and give him the all time touchdown record, for a career, nationally. Bearcats 42 Mavericks 28. with 6:36 to go.
The Bearcat defense comes up with a big stop and will give their offense the ball back on the Manvel 47 yard line with time running down.
3:00 to go and Aledo is keeping the offense simple. Run the ball. Run the clock. It may not be creative, but it's effective. There are no style points in Football. Just W's and L's. If it produces a W, it's the right plan.
Matt Bishop fakes right to Johnathan, rolls back to the left, and completes a touchdown pass to Parker Bradham for the Aledo touchdown and it is now 49-28 Aledo with 45 seconds remaining in the game as Manvel works from their 31 yard line.
Time will run out for the Manvel Mavericks with the final score Aledo 49 Manvel 28.
A third straight State Championship for the Aledo Bearcats is the result. Congratulations Bearcats. Let's do this again!
Good day from Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.
