After hours of debate at the December meeting of the Aledo City
Council, members voted on a plan that would partially offset rate
increases with up to $150,000 in excess reserve funds that were
generated by high water bills over the summer months.
The amount included in the base rate will drop from 3,000 to 2,000
gallons and those using less than 2,000 will see no increase.
Users of 2,000-3,000 gallons will have a $1 surcharge on water and
sewer, and slight volumetric rate increases will apply in tiers on
usage over 3,000 gallons.
