The Parker County office of the Texas AgriLife Extension Service will offer a series called “Ag 101 for Small Acreage Land Owners” at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning Nov. 15. Fee for the series is $35 per household, which includes handbook and refreshments. Pre-Registration by Nov. 14 is required by calling 817-598-6168. If you are a relatively new landowner and have questions on how to manage your land, this program is for you, according to Jon Green, County Extension Agent - Agriculture for Parker County. Past year’s participants with properties ranging from 5 acres to over 100 acres all increased their knowledge base of ag related topics, Green added.

The series begins on Tuesday, November 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the Extension office meeting room at 604 North Main in Weatherford. The remaining dates are November 22 and 29.

Topics to be covered over the three evenings include:
• Beef Cattle Management on small acreage
• Goat Management on small acreage
• Wildlife on Small Acreage
• Pond Management
• Plant Identification
• Soils & Soil Testing
• Pasture and Hay Field Management
• Oak Wilt & Tree Care
• Ag. and Wildlife Valuation of Property

Due to seating capacity, the program is limited to the first 25 landowners and spouses who pre-register by November 14, Green said. The fee for this series is $35 per household which includes the series handbook and refreshments.

Pre-registration is required. Call the Parker County Extension office at 817-598-6168 or stop by 604 North Main.
