We'll take a minute to say how nice it is to have Willie Gibson back for the last few games after he missed some time.

Bryan Cox is a good news bad news deal. Good news is that his injury is not his previously repaired ACL. According to his dad he could rejoin his teammates in about 4 weeks if all goes well.

Both Bands have done a fantastic job with their Halftime Shows. It takes a bunch of work from a bunch of folks to make these Halftime Shows go so well.

A beautiful Banner and a lot of Pink are a reminder that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Early detection saves lives. The Teams are wearing pink accessories, the Coaches have pink caps and even the Officials have pink whistles.

As the grandson and son of two survivors of Breast Cancer I appreciate the efforts of all concerned to keep this issue in our thoughts.

Azle's Defense did a good job to hold Johnathan to under 100 yards (96) in the first half and two rushing touchdowns. He also scored on a pass.

Aledo has the ball to start the second half. Once again Gray has a run of 50 yards called back for an illegal block down field. A Willie Gibson reception moves the chains to the Azle 16 yard line and Johnathan Gray Carries it twice to cover the last 16 yards and scores on a two yard run. Aledo 42 Azle 3 after the PAT.

Azle is unable to move the ball and punts back to the Bearcats.

Johnathan Gray has a 3rd touchdown run of over 50 yards called back on a holding penalty. 3 penalties put Aledo in a 4th and 20 situation and they have to punt the ball back to the Hornets 25 yard line with 5:40 left in the 3rd.

Azle's Hunter McDonald has a long run and takes Azle to the Bearcat 38 yard line. Gunner Johnson and Jaylen Hill both have tackles for a loss to force a 3rd and 12 at the Aledo 40. A stop and a delay of game on the Hornets means they will punt from the Aledo 45. A great punt pins Aledo at their own 1 yard line before Johnathan Gray, Matt Bishop, then two Johnathan Gray runs cover the 99 yards. The last one is a 1 yard run just as the third quarter ends to make it 49-3 Aledo as the 3rd quarter ends.

Azle has the ball on their 14 yard line to start the 4th quarter. Three 1st downs later they in Bearcat territory at the 45 yard line.Azle goes for it on 4th down and they have it at the Aledo 35. Aledo's Jordan Mittie has a tackle behind the line but then Azle rolls right and pass for another 1st down at the Aledo 18. Another 1st down has the ball on the Aledo 3. Jake Tago has a touchdown saving tackle and time runs out as Azle fails to score to finish off a 12 minute drive. The final is 49-3 Aledo.

Johnathan Gray continues to roll up numbers that defy understanding. 20 Carries tonight for 168 yards. 3 receptions for 128 yards. 5 touchdowns, 30 points.

Johnathan now sits 18 points behind T.A. McClendon who is second all time in High School Career Scoring Nationally. He has 1058 points in his career after tonight's game.

Good Night from the Stadium in Aledo

Building the team

I love J Gray, and hope he breaks the records, but when are we going to start looking to build our team for next year and the year after? We have quite a few Seniors who will be moving on and I don't see many of the younger guys getting valuable playing time. When we are up 30+ points and all momentum is going our way, why isn't Coach Buc getting young players into the game at the beginning of Q3? If you look at our offensive stats and remove Gray's numbers, we are hard pressed to compete with total yards -- and many of Bishop's passing yards are to Gray as well. I want to win next year and the year after, and after that....
