The leukemia society will host the Light the Night Walk Sunday, Oct. 23 at the West 7th development in Fort Worth to raise awareness and funds for leukemia. Leah Vann, a junior at Aledo High School, was diagnosed with AML on Nov. 11, 2010. A team called “Across Generations” was created in honor of Leah and in memory of her father, Dr. Barry L. Vann. All of Aledo is invited to walk with Leah. Check in is at 5:30 p.m. with the walk going down 7th street. Wear Orange for Aledo and for Leukemia in support of Leah's family. An Aledo eighth grader, Jack McAdams, is collecting money in memory of Leah and Harrison Vann's father. He is Harrison's friend and is collecting money so Harrison can carry a light up memory balloon as a tribute to his father. Leah has already collected enough funds to carry a light up survivor balloon. The walk takes about 30 minutes and starts at 7 p.m. For more information, visit www.LightTheNight.org.
