He was born November 29, 1935 in Cornwall, New York to Mary I. and James Edward Conklin, Sr.
Jim joined the armed forces as a young man. He earned many Commendations throughout his career including a Vietnam Service Medal with one Silver Star and two Bronze Service Stars. He retired in the mid 1970’s after more than 22 years of service.
Jim, known as Pop by his grandchildren, was in the “Senior Circle” and enjoyed playing bingo at the Senior Center in Weatherford. Most recently, he attended church at Calvary Baptist. Jim is preceded in death by his parents and in 2002 his brother William Everett Conklin.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Barbara Conklin; daughter, Terry Kenaley; grandchildren, Josh and Erin Kenaley; great grandson, Joseph Arevalo; brother-in-law, Leroy Ray and wife Mary Lou; sisters-in-law, Vevelean Devrow and husband Tommy all of Weatherford, Evelyn Keele and husband Harlin and Valerie Meador and husband Jeff of Weatherford and his dear sweet four legged companion Lillie Belle.
